Bowlin Energy Responds to Iowa Disaster

In February 2007 Iowa was blanketed with several inches of ice. The ice covered everything from roads to trees to power lines. The catastrophic results of a storm of this magnitude left nearly 55% of the state’s residents without power. Bowlin Energy sent 8 teams to aid in the recovery efforts and through the ice and blinding snow the teams worked 20-hour shifts to deliver life-saving power to thousands of stranded residents.

A spokesman for Alliant Energy, the local power company, commented “not only have I never seen it this bad, I’ve never even heard it could be this bad”. In the end, the recovery efforts included replacing over 1000 poles and hundreds of miles of downed lines. Bowlin Energy was involved until the very end “with a spring in their step and a sense of purpose that defied the long hours and brutal conditions” according to the spokesman.
